Corporate Training: Multimedia

Corporate Training Multimedia

Multimedia. Audio/Visual. Systems Integration...That “high tech stuff.” No matter what you call it, multimedia systems include “multiple media” by the very definition of the word. The disciplines of lighting, sound, video, and control all fall under the general heading of “multimedia.” So why would we call all those different technologies by the same all-encompassing name?

In today’s venues and environments, all of these technologies are vitally intertwined. What is videotape without the audio track? Can I mix 35mm slides with my video clips to make my point? How can I lower the lights, close the shades, start my PowerPoint presentation and walk around the room lecturing without missing a beat?
The key is systems integration, which is at the core of multimedia functionality. It is looking at all aspects of presentation and display, in terms of how they complement each other, how they work in concert, and how they can be easily controlled and managed without requiring an advanced engineering degree.

CSI understands not only the individual technologies (voice, video, lighting), but also the operational needs of the end users. We know how to take all the “high tech stuff” and make it easy to use. We know that your investment in the tools of technology is substantial—and you don’t want that investment to become just a bunch of “technology toys,” simply because they are too complicated to use. Contact us and let us know what you envision doing. We’re glad to help.

Corporate Training: Data Networking

Data Networking

From K-12 educational facilities and college campuses to the Fortune 500, data network infrastructures have become critically important pathways for information exchange. Our experience with network infrastructures has allowed CSI to complete projects like the National Ground Intelligence Center in Charlottesville, VA. Including over 23,000 fiber optic terminations with multiple levels of network security, this project was completed on time and on budget.

CSI provides AMP, Leviton and Superior Modular Products certified cabling solutions, allowing us to provide building owners with extended performance warranties. Our investment in state-of-the-art test equipment benefits our customers by allowing us to accurately measure and test system performance. From network design to installation to performance testing, CSI knows how to make your information systems realize their maximum potential.

Corporate Training: Distance Learning

Distance Learning

Imagine an instructor that has the ability to takes his/her class on a virtual field trip to the other side of the world—and still get them all back in time for lunch. Or, business associates improving their skills by receiving training from the industry’s best trainers without ever leaving the office. Combining the technologies of presentation, multimedia and video/audio teleconferencing, distance learning enables presenters to expose students and co-workers to people, places, ideas and experiences that were impossible just a few short years ago.

The “virtual classroom” concept can expand curriculum at all levels: K-12, Higher Education, Continuing Education, Corporate Training and Telemedicine. These days, unique classes and specialized training can be provided in a cost efficient manner. If you are interested in learning more about the possibilities (and benefits) of distance learning, give us a call at (804)559-4274. We can bring the world to your door.

Corporate Training: Corporate Communications

Corporate Communications

Corporate Communications is all about getting timely and useful information to all members of a corporate community in a simple and easily accessible manner. Organizations of all sizes and in all industries find that such direct internal communication helps keep workforces on track with business goals, speeds the pace of change and creates a competitive advantage for their companies.

Life safety alerts, important messages, shift information, internal meeting announcements, corporate policy changes and even birthday greetings can easily reach all members of a workforce through the use of a coordinated bulletin board system. Distribution can be accomplished by internal video distribution networks, the corporate LAN, TV sets, and even offsite by common Web browsers using secure login features.
CSI knows communications. If your business needs to find ways to share information better, give us a call at (804) 559-4274.

Corporate Training: Sound Masking/Speech Privacy

The employee in the cubicle next to you is talking on the phone about the new car he wants to buy; the copy machine is cranking out and stapling 60 copies of the boss’s new presentation; the doctor in the examining room next to yours is discussing areas of health you wish you’d never heard of; you can’t help but overhear a privileged conversation between the defense attorney and his client. Is it any wonder that you can’t focus on your own situation?

Privacy issues and productivity losses due to distractions are very common issues today. From health care facilities to corporate offices, employers and employees struggle to maintain privacy and keep focused on their tasks. Luckily, there is a solution: Speech Privacy (A.K.A. Sound Masking) systems are designed to reduce the ability of an individual to hear and understand surrounding conversations. Using low-level, non-distracting sound, these systems can dramatically improve productivity, and increase privacy.

While large “open plan” offices have made use of this technology for many years, smaller professional offices and medical facilities are now adapting the technology due to the tremendous desire to increase privacy. Systems are now available to handle facilities ranging from dozens of square feet up to many thousands of square feet. And new technologies enable these speech privacy systems to serve double-duty, incorporating public address and background/foreground music.

For more information, give us a call (804) 559-4274. We will be happy to send you information on Speech Privacy. We’ll even come to your facility for a no-obligation site survey.

Corporate Training: Sound Masking/Sound and Lighting

Auditoriums, gymnasiums, lecture halls, cafeterias, conference rooms and meeting rooms: These purpose of these physical spaces changes daily. Sound and Lighting are key elements in meeting the wide-ranging requirements of these spaces.

From videoconferencing and distance learning situations to the school play, properly designed sound and lighting systems will not only enhance the event, but will add to the flexibility of the space. Our designers understand that the systems installed for these areas must be flexible as well. And affordable. And easy to use.

We’ve been around the block a few times, so give us a call at (804) 559-4274 and let us help you get maximum use from your multi-function spaces.

Higher Education

Colleges and Universities are all about the exchange of information. Technology systems play a major role in facilitating the exchange of information and ideas. Across the country, professors are using multimedia and distance learning systems to share the world’s knowledge with students. Reports, lecture notes, assignments, and other information flows in electronic form across the campus data networks; and high quality audio systems are installed in large lecture halls so everyone can hear. Centralized media resource systems provide maximum flexibility and maximum usage of the (sometimes) limited resources. Video distribution and campus data networks provide the pathways for information exchange, across the campus and around the world.

At CSI, we understand the system requirements of higher education facilities. We also understand that not everyone knows how to operate and make the best use of the technology tools. Our designers work with administration and faculty to design and provide systems that are easy to use. Email info@csisystems.net for more information about our higher education solutions.

K-12 Education: Voice Communications

“May I speak with Mr. Johnson please?” “Ms. Barnes, please send Steven to the office.” “There will be a pep rally in the gym today...”

Schools thrive on communication: internal communication between administrators and faculty as well as external communication to parents and the world. Integrated administrative telephone systems and internal intercom systems provide efficiency, increase staff productivity, increase parental involvement, and add to the security of our schools. Understanding how to integrate internal and external communications has been one of CSI's strong points since our founding in 1986.

School districts’ confidence in our abilities has been demonstrated through projects like the Hanover County Schools Classroom Telephone Upgrade. Started in January 2001, this three-year project provided classroom telephones and upgraded intercommunications systems in every school in the county. Contact our Educational Technology Specialist for information on how voice technology can improve your school.

K-12 Education: Media/Video/TV

The old adage that pictures are worth a thousand words has never been more true than it is today. Studies show that the use of visual images in teaching and presentations increases retention by 20 percent. And while educational television has been a mainstay in schools for many years, the advantages of using multiple video resources to supplement the learning process are just beginning to be realized. Shared video resources, combined with database management of these resources, enable schools to achieve today’s higher standards by exposing more students to visual and multimedia experiences…experiences that lead to that ever sought-after “teachable moment.”

Our Educational Technology or Multimedia Specialists can provide you with information on how media and video technology can aide your teaching and your students’ learning. Call (804)559-4274 today to learn more.

K-12 Education: Presentation Systems

What’s a presentation? It’s the means and methods of communicating via sound, imagery, human expression, and environment.

Once upon a time, a presenter stood in an auditorium and lectured, with an occasional scratch of chalk on slate. The information highway stretched on farther than the distance from the desk to the door. Today? The internet, digital cameras, PowerPoint, CDs, DVDs, live video feeds, interactive computers and much more represent the new tools of the trade for the professional presenter, whether s/he is a teacher, lecturer, doctor, politician, preacher, or Scout leader. Using the presentation tools of the 21st century, we can travel to the International Space Station, look inside the structure of DNA, listen to the language of a remote tribe in South Africa, or share each other’s ideas and creations with people on the other side of the world.

Think beyond the barriers of the closed room. Bring the world to you and your audience. Let us show you how. Call (804)559-4274 today and speak to one of our technology specialists.
